Thursday 31 May - Singapore

The hotel we stayed is the Goodwood Park Hotel, 22 Scotts Road, Singapore. It is a very nice hotel and for our short stay it was more than suitable.  As the next leg of our flight did not depart until 11.30p, we had a full day to fill in, so we booked on a 3 hour City Tour.

Maria standing at the top of the stairs of the formal entrance, the main entrance is further along on the left side of the building.
After breakfast we relaxed in the cafe catching up on things before our City Tour started. Maria is busy emailing and doing business, doesn't she look important?

The City Tour by RMG Tours is a 3 hour tour and included a visit to:
  • Little India
  • Through the financial center of Singapore, past Raffles Hotel
  • Drove through China Town
  • Visited the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore, the very impressive Sri Mariamman Temple
  • Jewellery factory and store where they tempted us with some very nice jewellery (we did not succumb to offers and discounts).
  • Singapore Botanic Gardens - National Orchid Garden

At the National Orchid Garden, Maria picked up new ideas for the garden at home and Vanuatu.

The new Marina Bay Sands Hotel, it was designed to replicate a ship which settled on top of pillars after a tsunami.

Cleared Customs, should not have been a problem, but Maria thought the Customs Entry/Exit permit was not needed and disposed of it. She was given special attention by the Customs staff before they gave her permission to leave. We are heading for Qantas Club to freshen up and have something to eat and drink.  Plane leaves at 11.30 pm for Frankfurt Airport.
